Chapter 4

Dangerous mission
IN THE EVENING
The café bell rang again.
Levi didn’t need to look up.
She already knew.
“Back again?” she said, wiping the counter. “Or did yesterday’s coffee ruin your life?”
Louis took the same seat as before.
“I came to complain,” he said seriously.
Levi sighed. “Of course you did.”
“It was terrible.”
She narrowed her eyes. “You drank the whole thing.”
“I like to fully understand my mistakes.”
Levi almost smiled.
Almost.
“So?” she asked. “Another bad decision today?”
Louis leaned back.
“Yes,” he said. “I’ll have the same thing.”
Levi rolled her eyes and turned—
“Levi.”
She froze slightly.
Slowly turned back.
His tone had changed.
Quieter.
Sharper.
“You’re not just a waitress,” he said.
Silence.
Levi forced a small laugh.
“Wow. And here I thought I was convincing.”
Louis didn’t smile.
“Your hands,” he said. “Not soft enough.”
A step closer.
“Your reflexes… too fast.”
Another step.
“And your eyes…”
Pause.
“…they don’t belong to someone living a normal life.”
Levi’s heartbeat quickened.
But her face stayed calm.
“Maybe I just had a rough life,” she replied lightly.
Louis studied her.
Then—
He smiled again.
Like he dropped it.
“Fair enough.”
But something told her—
He hadn’t.
TRAINING CENTRE
The watcher stood in front of Levi.
No disguises.
No games.
“You’ve been noticed,” he said.
Levi crossed her arms.
“I handled it.”
“You almost got exposed.”
“I didn’t.”
A pause.
Then—
He slid a file across the table.
Levi opened it.
Her eyes widened.
Photos.
Maps.
Names.
At the center—
Louis.
“Your next mission,” the watcher said calmly,
“is not to observe.”
Levi looked up.
“Get close to him.”
Silence.
“How close?” she asked.
The watcher’s lips curled slightly.
“Close enough… that he trusts you.”
A beat.
“…or loves you.”
Levi’s expression hardened.
“That’s not a mission. That’s manipulation.”
“That,” he said coldly,
“is what being a spy means.”
The Twist Deepens
Levi stared at the file again.
Then—
Something else caught her eye.
Another photo.
Old.
Faded.
Her breath stopped.
It was her father.
Standing next to—
Louis’ father.
And…
John.
Her hands tightened.
“You said this was about justice,” she whispered.
The watcher didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, he said something else—
Something colder.
“Tell me, Levi…”
A pause.
“What if the man you’re chasing…”
He leaned closer.
“…isn’t the real enemy?”
Silence.
Heavy.
Dangerous.
Levi looked up slowly.
Confusion.
Anger.
Doubt.
“What are you hiding?” she asked.
The watcher smiled.
“Not hiding,” he said.
“Revealing… slowly.”
Cut to: Louis (Night)
Louis stood alone.
The same photo in his hand.
The past staring back at him.
“Levi…” he said quietly.
His expression wasn’t playful anymore.
It was serious.
Almost… conflicted.
“You really don’t remember, do you?”
He looked out into the city.
“Good,” he whispered.
A faint smirk returned.
“Because this game…”
A pause.
“…is just getting interesting.”
